The new century begets new ideas, views, beliefs. The development of science and technology gives a possibility to create new tendencies in art. Although almost 11 years have passed, there are already a lot of trends, which take a deserved place in art history. They are virtual art, altermodern, stuckism, superstroke, relational art, VJ art, IMMAGINE&POESIA (Italian) or IMAGE&POETRY, mobilography, water drop art and others.
My choice fell on Water Drop Art or as it is also known - Liquid Sculpture.
Liquid Sculpture is the process of creating shapes by dropping and splashing water or other liquids. The sculptures are than photographed since they last only a few thousandths of a second.
The founder of this art trend is named Martin Waugh. By varying the size, speed and position of drops, as well as the color, viscosity, and surface tension, Martin creates a panorama of color, movement and intrigue.
He writes: "I orchestrate these sculptures by accurately aiming the drops and releasing them with precise timing. As nature takes its course, I photograph the unfolding forms using a digital camera and electronic flash".
This photo technique and the imagination of an author make it possible to imprint the moments of associative images and forms, which appear due to the contact of diverse liquids.
These photos convey the uniqueness of water, the feeling of tranquility, the beauty of life. It is so pleasant to look at these pictures, to admire at same time the simplicity and singularity of the form.
To my mind water will never stop astonishing people. The substance that seemed studied from all the aspects, uncovers new sides of its nature. In skillful hands of a photographer water becomes an amazing work of art.
